Empowering New Zealand’s sustainable future.
I recently attended a hui led by Genesis Energy as I was invited by the CEO Marc England to learn more about how together we empower New Zealand’s sustainable future. A key highlight was listening to Genesis Energy take ownership of their strategy and also to address their use of coal and desire and aspiration to move towards more renewal energy generation. Firstly a full disclosure that I work with Genesis Energy Schoolgen trust so I found that as an organisation they are going through a huge culture shift. The leadership shared their vision through the whakatauki "Manaaki whenua Manaaki tangata, haere whakamua" which translates to care for our land, our people and permission to do it". Arizona one of the panelists, Maori and also one of the few youth in the room highlighted that Genesis should also include Manaaki Rangatahi because the future of sustainable initiatives will be carried by the youth and young leaders of the present.
