Reviewing workshops so far

Reviewing workshops with Terry and Doug - 16 September 2021

Terry suggested that he is an observer and supports the teachers and will link into working with teachers and helping provide case study material. Doug will be working with the teams on an as-needed basis and we will not be charged. However, Doug would also like to work with our team on Zoning with our staff and put into practical models for how the learning could be structured.

I also suggested that we can look at the Zoning working in relationship with our 3D virtual reality Pepeha game that we are developing. Doug's work with us would fit well with this

The objective for Workshop 4 is that we have identified what our next practice looks, eg students are more engaged = what does this look like and therefore we have a clear definition of this linked to the bank of pictures. The picture shows a learning activity, doing things around learning based on the shape, learning structure, organizing of learning, and also dynamics of the learner in front of us.

We then link the learning activities that our team has defined and map them out on a floor plan, then use the example pictures to connect it with tangible steps. Then they reflect is the current practice and the proposed next practice is based upon the staff driving the learning activity.

Space - Usage - Design

While the use of PLS will help us with our 1 to 2 year plan for moving into our new school, it also provides a clear mandate and shared vision from my team in order to effect improvement, The way that our school is developing, as a leader I feel more comfortable to coach and drive change with Wēteri as it has been agreed upon by the educator's ar our Kura. This kaupapa is based on common principles and a shared vision of where we are going.  We are starting to develop a shared understanding of collaboration as we have been prototyping what could help us with our next practice whilst in our current building space. Teachers who might struggle with the shift may counter the consistency of our practice across our school.

How does this shared understanding support "bright ideas" and alternative ways of being?

If teams have a team member who has an idea that is valued as equally and even though it may not be a shared next practice as long as there is gains on the tauira-students and aligns with addressing our challenges. Leaders need bright ideas to flourish and be able to stand confidently

Teams that operative effectively will regularly check in with their new ideas and prototyping every 2-3 days, these teams spend 20 minutes in reflection to decide what has worked well, things to be aware of what could they differently and strengths and success. This helps the team organization around their learning and provides the opportunity to innovate and grow further with external professional support i.e RTLB or MAC or IT person.

Next steps:

- Suggest the use of regular check-ins with our team

- By end of November our themes could start taking shape
