PLS Blog - Wēteri reflections

Recently we were asked to share about our PLS journey via the PLS Blog so we were delighted to co-author a reflection to share about our journey so far. Firstly though nga mihi nui - to Shelley for your insight and support of the PLS PLD and  to Sam for your leadership as our PLSiP coach, which has been outstanding. Lastly to the Wēteri Team leaders Sam, Cath and Heidi for taking time with our staff to wānanga. We have grown deeper in our understanding - mātauranga pertaining to what we do at Wēteri and also how we could build on this for our new kura.

I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing kaiako and kaiawhina share their kura huna about our kaupapa and as Shelley states "the teachers are now planning and working in a totally collaborative way"  which I couldn't agree more. I think it's amazing to see this all happening even as we are not in an ILE space yet! I have loved the passion from kaiako to try out new things like working across single cells and some have undertaken prototyping and innovation with Andy Crowe too. I think another example of innovation that has recently occurred is our new Wēteri Marau - local curriculum website - which has made something very special fully visible and that was there all along!

We are now serving our community and students with a real sense of purpose and drive, especially when we know what we are good at, where we want to be in 2022 and how we can get there together. A true sense of He waka eke noa!

Lastly, I want to acknowledge the process that Matua Terry, Bhavini and Doug have set out for us and for encouraging us to share our mahi from little Puketāpapa - Aotearoa. I love PLS because it helps us find our shared collective vision and together we can achieve more!
