Leadership development - Planning Learning Spaces

 In the last 6 months, I have been meeting with Doug Crutch - Education property consultant and Terry White who leads the Planning learning spaces. Below is a few screen captures of our recent korero for a design framework for our kura.

This case study was awesome to review as a new build and really highlights the importance of codesign with staff and key stakeholders.

Design sprint snapshots and reflections

On Friday 14th October, we held a Design Sprint at Te Kura Tuatahi o Wēteri - Wesley Primary school. The purpose of the event was to define our learning space challenges for stage 2 of our new school buildings and to ideate some solutions collaboratively with staff, community and business partners.  It was amazingly led by our AP- Andy Crowe and supported by our key note speakers Terry White and @Bhavini Pandya from @PlanningLearningSpaces (PLS), our leadership team DP Shelley, TLs Sam and Heidi, with lovely Kai provided by Madie! I want to thank all of our beautiful staff for giving up time during your break too.   Alongside our staff, we had Ministry of Education Delivery manager Fiona, our wonderful architects @MOSHIN MUSSA and Will from RTA and our strategic build partners like Liam Doolin and Alex Hall from Naylor Love.  Representatives from the business sector and our community leaders gave powerful feedback to each working group and we had a few laughs along the way too. a huge

Current and Next Practice - Feedback session with Terry White

During the Aug-Sept 2021 Lockdown - our leadership team decided to continue working on our PLS reflection and analysis of our school's value proposition. By working together with Terry White (PLS founder) - https://planninglearningspaces.com/, we get regular coaching and support to implement a framework for planning our new school.  Each team has now completed workshop 3 of the PLS self-review,  our teams found it energizing, provided clarity of what we do well and some challenges. Terry summarised that as a school we are at the stage to start collating our themes i.e Pedagogy, Organization of learning, Curriculum, leadership, community engagement.  The teams have decided to continue to clearly define the key features of each theme labeled as a current practice which we can see in our team spaces. Then the challenges we see in the current spaces that we need to address in the new build in respect to Pedagogy and then finally in the coming weeks start to look at addressing the next
